What You Should Know About Marshfield Youth Hockey’s Scholarship Program

In 2012, after graduating, Andrew joined the U.S. Army. However, to take back control of his mental health, he resorted to hockey, a game he had played as a child.

“He had difficulty adjusting to civilian life when he got out of the army, and so it took a little bit of prodding, but I finally convinced him to join me in playing men’s hockey, which seemed to help him,” John said. To remember Andrew, the boy’s hockey team from Marshfield Tigers donned specially manufactured military-themed jerseys with U.S. and Ukrainian flag emblems on the shoulders.

Andrew’s parents received a personalized jersey to commemorate the occasion, and the American Legion Post 54 color guard helped kick off the evening by presenting the colors.
